I'm
sure you've heard or used the phrase "Attitude
of Gratitude". It's a catch phrase for many of
us in the New Thought spiritual movement. Do we just
mouth it or do we live it?
What's
the difference? It's the same as the difference between
saying "I am happy" but feeling less than
that inside .... and feeling genuine happiness.
Do
you really have a heart filled with appreciation for
the things you have in your life? Are you humbled whenever
you count your blessings? Hey, there are many people
who would accept your worst day over their best. Wanna
go to Haiti tomorrow?
The
Universe (or God or the Source, whatever label you are
comfortable with) continues to bless each of us every
day. So seek to treat others with the same love and
shower them with gratitude for bringing love and lessons
into your life.
Gratitude
changes you physiologically. It makes your heart full
of positive energy. When you know what you already have
and receive each day, you can trust that you are cared
for. When you look through thankful eyes, you see hope
in the world.
From
the shop assistant to your friends, make it a point
to sincerely thank everyone who serves you. A small
note, a smile, and a kind word are all simple ways in
which to show others that you are thankful.
Being
thankful is a habit that we all need to work on. Over
time, the more appreciation we show, the easier it gets.
Gratitude has to become a natural part of your personality
- not just a catch phrase "attitude of gratitude".
Do
it today ... give thanks for the gift of life. Go out
of your way to make sure those around you know that
appreciation and gratitude are in your heart at all
times. Oh, did I mention ... as you give, so shall you
receive?
