This week I
thought I'd repeat something I said in this week's Sunday
talk

Part of the talk was about the
three stages of spiritual awakening. The three stages of
spiritual awakening are Why
Me, By Me and Through
Me.
I know a lot of people
who are into manifesting (as in "The Secret") get stuck in the second
stage. And sadly there are many people who never get out of
the first stage. I hear them whining about how tough life is
as I wander through the local mall.
“Why
Me”
is the first stage where we think life is happening to us.
Where we really feel out of
control and the
victim of circumstances, people, etc.
There is quite a lot of whining in
the Why Me
stage and, sadly, if we
stay in that stage, not a lot of spiritual growth will occur.
The
next
stage is By Me,
which is definitely a step in the right direction.
In this stage, we have learned
that we really
are co-creators with Spirit. That
we are
NOT the victim of circumstances and that we have a hand in the
unfoldment of
our lives. We learn
to claim
affirmatively, we learn to vision and to visualize – we learn and begin
to
apply all those wonderful tools we have in our spiritual tool box.
By Me is where "The
Secret" and Law of Attraction devotees live. It's a good
place to live but sometimes the answers don't manifest.
There's deeper work to do maybe.
The
challenge with this stage is that we can begin to think that it is all
up to us
and that we have to make things happen.
It may even begin to feel as if we
have the weight of the world on our
shoulders. There’s
not a lot of relaxing
in this stage.
The ego- self that tries to figure it out,
tries
to make it
happen, tries to manipulate and maneuver to get my way. While this is an important
stage, it’s only a step on the path.
I'm saying this not to make you
feel less than or that you could fail ... or that the Law
doesn't work. IT works every time. But often we
don't know how to move the blockage ... or even what the blockage is!
If
the result isn't there as we expected it, we can easily go
to “what’s wrong with me?” or “what did I do wrong?”
When you are ready to go through that stage,
you move to the next stage ... hand it over to the Universe (God, Life,
Force - you know your pseudonym for IT).
Have any of you
ever faced a situation for which you
could see absolutely no answer? Perhaps it was:
- a financial crisis that seemed
insurmountable.
- a relationship so torn with hurt
and
resentment that you
couldn’t see
how it could ever possibly be mended.
- a physical challenge that the
medical
community had labeled
incurable or
unfixable.
- a dream so big that seemed
overwhelmingly impossible.
Those
are
the times to release it to stage three ... let IT work Through You. Of
yourself you can
do nothing -- it is the Higher Self within
which you let do the work.
So
when you
are in fear and doubt, uncertainty and pain; when the challenge or the
dream
seems bigger than you are and you can’t figure it out, release it to
the
higher power. Turn
it
over, release it. Let
the Infinite
Intelligence and Divine Harmony working through you -- handle it.

2. Do you say you're spiritual because
occasionally stage two works for you?
3. What are your fears or baggage about releasing
to stage three?
