Do you ever say to yourself "What's the point of
being good when there's so much bad in the world?"
Have
you ever thought about how much time you spend recounting
the ills and evils of the world? Problems, pain and
injustices exist in our human world - that's a given.
The real question is what are you doing about it?
Will
you be leaving footprints on this earth to make a lasting
impact? "Who me - what can little old me do?",
your ego voice cries.
It's
like the story of the boy on the beach. One day he came
upon hundreds of starfish that had been stranded. As
he walked, he picked up one starfish at a time and threw
it back into the ocean. A man happened by who saw what
he was doing. He asked the boy, "How can you possibly
make a difference here? There must be thousands!"
The boy replied as he picked up another starfish and
tossed it into the water, "It makes a difference
to this one."
Similarly,
you make a significant difference in the lives of others.
Try
seeing the beauty and joy in this world and passing
that knowledge on to others, hoping that they will see
the same. There is a ripple effect where each person
you help starts another ripple that gets larger and
larger as time goes on. So you don't need to make waves
in mass quantities in order for your ripples to have
a lasting impact.
So
today, plan to start at least one new ripple of joy
by helping someone who never expected it. Be guided
by your higher self. But don't ask for your footsteps
to be guided if you are not prepared to move your feet.
Self-Reflection
Questions:
1. What are you doing
to make a lasting impact on this earth?
2.
Are you teaching others to do the same?
3.
Do you feel you make a significant difference?.
