The Eternal Ohmm is the name of a CD that I often play for meditation. As I listen to the chanting of the sound on the CD, it is easy to reach a deeper meditative state. I know a lot of people don't understand meditation. There is no great mystery to it. It is just quieting the mind. If you worry about your mind chattering on while you are meditating, know that you are normal. The fact that you recognise the chatter means that you are ahead of the game on the path of self realisation. Only by recognising the chatter can you control it. "Control" is probably the wrong word. "Focus" is probably a better term ... for what we want to do is focus back on the moment and be at peace ... whether that focus is on a thought of peace or on music like the eternal ohmm. If you persevere you will find your path to inner peace. An athlete trains for the Olympics so she doesn't have to think and analyse when the Olympic starter's gun goes off .... so you too train yourself to be in the moment with each successive meditation. |

Better indeed is knowledge than mechanical practice. Better than knowledge is meditation. But better still is surrender of attachment to results, because there follows immediate peace. ~ Bhagavad Gita A person can use his mind when working on matter; then logic is a great instrument. And the same person can put aside the mind when he moves into his meditation chamber and moves into the no-mind. Because mind is not you -- it is just an instrument just like my hand, just like my legs. ~ Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh |

NATIVE AMERICAN MEDITATION Our religion is
the traditions of our ancestors ... the dreams of our old men, given
them in the solemn hours of night by the Great Spirit; and the visions
of our sachems, and is written in the hearts of our people. Our Spiritual ways have carefully been given to chosen people. Slowly, through our past generations, through past conflicts, our Elders prayed for guidance, which the Creator provided. Then it was passed down to the next generation through culture, ceremony and oral traditions. Our Indian religion has been tested and is about how we should behave and treat other people, animals and the earth. This knowledge is written in the heart of every person. We can find this knowledge by looking inside ourselves. My Creator, today, when conflict occurs, I will look inside myself for the answers. |
