In these times that people see as financially challenged, we have to choose whether we give in to the emotional pressures or whether we can emotionally rise above them.

Rising above them doesn't mean that the problems are solved or that you are ignoring them. You are just not stressing out. What value does stress bring to your ability to solve your problems? Can you make rational decisions from stress?

Are you emotionally prepared for any challenge life can throw at you? Can you handle it because you are in charge of your emotions?

Gratefully accept all emotions, good and not so good, because the entire spectrum of emotions is part of being human. Being in stress is an ego state and disconnects you from your Source (Universe, Infinite, Nature, God, Good Orderly Design, call it what you will.)

When you have positive emotions, like joy and happiness, allow yourself to thoroughly enjoy them and let the good feelings spill over into every area of your life.

When you experience uncomfortable emotions, like anger or sadness, acknowledge the emotions and then deal with them in positive ways.

Step back to give yourself a moment of thought. Try to see the situation from all perspectives and then use your mental tools to help you effectively deal with negative emotions.

One of your most valuable tools is your positive outlook on life. Do you believe everything happens for a good reason? Sometimes it takes a while to see it. Know that there is a lesson in everything. An opportunity for growth.

Something good is in every situation, waiting for you to discover it! Once you discover what the good is, allow gratitude to take over and you can give thanks for it.

Many negative emotions are due to miscommunication! So rather than going to anger or disappointment, clarify the situation and move past the negative emotions.

If you develop a positivity toolbox to handle any emotional challenges that arise, you'll be emotionally prepared for any future challenge. But do it now ... prepare the toolbox before it's needed.

Self-Reflection Questions:
1. Do you give in to negative emotions, like anger, and totally lose your cool?

2. What tools can you use to help you meet emotional challenges?

3. Do you acknowledge your negative emotions - or try to bury them?

Learn from others' experience ....
In times of great stress or adversity, it's always best to keep busy, to plow your anger and your energy into something positive.
~ Lee Iacocca

Stress is basically a disconnection from the earth, a forgetting of the breath. Stress is an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency. Nothing is that important. Just lie down.
~ Natalie Goldberg
