Often
we get lost in past habits and mistakes and feel that
we will repeat it all over again. If you feel that you
may stumble, you have to take control and consciously
decide that you will not revert back to old habits.
You are the one primarily responsible for your own
well being. Therefore, you have to listen to the signals
that your mind and body send you. If you are vigilant
in keeping yourself in check and living in the Now,
you don't fall into those old bad habits.
If you don't know where to start, build and maintain
close ties with others who are also genuinely working
at changing how they approach life. When you have those
like-minded relationships in place, you know that you
can call on them when you need an extra boost ... just
as they can call on you for support .
In a like-minded group, you get to take advantage of
the wisdom and experience of those who have travelled
the same road ahead of you.
The tough thing is that you will most likely have to
eliminate some of the sources of negative energy from
your life. As you pay more attention to your inner voice,
you'll soon realise which people and circumstances cause
you to want to revert to old negative behaviour. You'll
have to make it a point to avoid those situations. You'll
have to make a tough choice - steer clear of friends
and situations that are toxic to you.
If you are truly clear about your purpose, you can
freely share your goals with other caring individuals,
and adopt techniques which will daily remind you of
the benefits of staying strong in the Now.
When you are focused on the big picture and call on
the support of like-minded friends, you'll discover
this divine inner strength more powerful than old habits
and old behaviours.
Self-Reflection Questions:
1. Are you willing to sever ties
with those who drag your down?
2. Where can you find a group
of like-minded people who can support you?
3. Do you recognise the value
of learning from those who have experienced what you
are facing?
