Navigator or Back Seat Driver

Last week I told you to tell the back seat driver to shut up. If you missed it, here's a quick version.

Your conscious mind knows what it wants and where it wants to go. Your subconscious bases everything on the past ... past failures, past fears, past happiness, past love and it tries to run everything from historical experience. If you had a back seat driver like that in your car, you'd pretty soon tell them to shut up, that you are in charge and making your decisions based on what you want n-o-w, not what they think might happen.

Once you are able to take control and live in the NOW, in the moment, instead of letting the back seat driver take charge, you are ready for step two. Train the back seat driver to be a Navigator. Train it in the experiences you consciously want, train it in the feelings you consciously want to have. Now instead of a nagging, hindering back seat driver, you have an ally who is navigating you to your chosen destinations - and worth listening to. You may even trust it to drive!!!!!!
